The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to fully digitizing all WAEC and NECO examinations by the year 2026, transitioning to a 100% Computer-Based Testing (CBT) system. Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, confirmed this directive while monitoring the recent examinations across various states. This major transition to CBT aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and the overall integrity of the national assessment system, aligning perfectly with broader educational reforms focused on digital transformation. The full adoption of CBT for both essay and objective components will commence by May/June 2026, a move designed to decisively eliminate examination malpractices nationwide. Students, parents, and schools are strongly urged to begin training candidates on the use of computers, digital styluses, and modern testing interfaces to ensure no student is disenfranchised during this major shift.
